Meet Sig Hansen from the Deadliest Catch TV Show on Friday
Captain Sig Hansen from the Emmy-nominated TV series Deadliest Catch will be signing autographs at Noon and 4 PM at the Helly Hansen tent Friday, May 16th. Stop by and meet the brave Captain from the Northwestern – one of the eight crab-fishing vessels.
While one of the most lucrative and deadliest jobs in the world- these men endure treacherous weather conditions in the Bering Sea. Imagine working 24-hour shifts, battling 40-foot waves, 80-mph winds, subfreezing weather and 700-pound crab pots slamming against the deck -- not to mention a nearly 100 percent injury rate. Helly Hansen is the Outerwear Sponsor for the FV Northwestern of Deadliest Catch. www.hellyhansennorthwestern.com

New This Year! Bassmaster Casting Kids Program
No need to pre-register, visit “Tent A” and try your luck
Winners Compete for Thousands of Dollars in Scholarship Money!
The Casting Kids Program is the most successful youth fishing program in the country. In 1991 BASS developed the Bassmaster Casting Kids program, which is similar to the NFL Punt, Pass and Kick events. However, in Casting Kids the challenge is to flip, pitch and cast a hookless lure into a bull's-eye target. There are two age groups: 7 to 10 and 11 to 14. There is a practice area and a competition area. Scoring is based on a points system so that the young angler with the most points wins. Each young angler aims for a target and the score he or she receives is based on where the lures come to rest. Each individual will be judged and a score will be given at the time of participation. The competition is open all three days of the Show. At the end of each day the two who scored the most points (one in each age group) will be announced as that day's winners. The 6 winners (two from each day of the show) will then proceed to the Rhode Island State Finals in September 2008. At the state level winning contenders from all over the state will compete and only two finalists from Rhode Island will be chosen. They will represent the state at the National Semifinals. From the National Semifinals 12 contenders will advance to the National Championship Competition. The 12 contenders will compete to win more than $21,000 in academic scholarships provided by the Casting Kids program each year!
